“Dignity Not Detention pt. 2” Documentary

We created a follow up documentary film piece for Immigrant Law Legislation.
Dignity Not Detention Coalition
As an art collective rooted in storytelling, we are driven by a commitment to uplift truth, inspire action, and connect people across perspectives. Our latest short documentary, “Dignity Not Detention pt2”, brings together three respected community leaders: a public religious figure, an immigrant rights lawyer, and a college professor who has served as an expert witness. Together, they speak directly to the ongoing abuse and human rights violations in ICE detention centers across New Mexico.
Through a powerful blend of personal testimony, professional insight, and moral clarity, these voices shine a light on the disturbing collaboration between ICE and private detention facilities. The film reveals a hidden network of legal exploitation, psychological harm, and the systemic erosion of human dignity. It exposes the human cost of a system built on fear, silence, and profit.
Following Up Dignity
This documentary is not just about bearing witness to injustice. It is a call to conscience. A call to action. A call for peace. Each story in this film challenges us to confront the cruelty happening in our own communities and to refuse to look away.
Premiered ahead of New Mexico’s 2025 legislative session, which began in February, this project was created as a tool to inform, activate, and engage both lawmakers and the broader community in the fight for dignity and justice. We believe policy cannot change unless hearts and minds do, and the most powerful change starts by listening.
Art + Activism = “Artivism“
At Momentos, we believe art is activism. This film continues our commitment to using storytelling to break through indifference and inspire solidarity. Art transcends language, breaks down fear, and touches something deeper. It reminds us that behind every statistic is a human life, a family, a story that matters.
Join the Movement
We invite you to watch “Dignity Not Detention” and take action. Whether you share this film, attend legislative hearings, sign petitions, or volunteer your time, every act of engagement brings us closer to a more humane future. Together, we can resist systems of exploitation and build a New Mexico that upholds dignity, compassion, and justice for all.
This is not the end of the story. It is the beginning of a movement.
