“The Freedom To Dream”

In collaboration with Transform Education New Mexcio we created a documentary film piece for Education Legislation.

The Future of Education

Amplifying Student, Educator, and Advocate Voices Across New Mexico

As an art collective, we are always drawn to the power of storytelling and the ways in which visual media can help connect us to different perspectives. Our latest video project with Transform Education New Mexico (TENM) is rooted in that belief. It centers the voices of students, educators, and educational advocates as they share their hopes, dreams, and visions for the future of education in our state.

Freedom To Dream Documentary

“The Freedom to Dream” Documentary is a compelling short story that illuminates the voices of students, educators, and advocates as they envision a future of educational equity in New Mexico.

The trailer for “The Freedom to Dream” offers an inspiring glimpse into the Freedom Dreaming 2037 campaign, a transformative effort aimed at reimagining education in New Mexico. Through heartfelt testimonials from youth, behind-the-scenes moments from statewide gatherings, and the powerful insights of Wilhelmina Yazzie—whose landmark legal case underscores the urgency of systemic reform—the trailer invites lawmakers to prioritize equity, inclusivity, and the well-being of every student. As the state’s leaders prepare for critical decisions, this visual narrative underscores the importance of collective action to create meaningful change for future generations.

In every conversation we filmed, we were reminded that those closest to the classroom hold the deepest insights about what our education system needs. From students navigating inequities in resources and representation, to teachers advocating for culturally relevant curriculum and classroom support, to community leaders demanding systemic change, this video lifts up the people who are reimagining education every day.

Art + Education = “Empowerment“

Through this project, we helped bring these powerful narratives to life by capturing candid interviews, meaningful classroom moments, and community dialogue. We used documentary style storytelling to elevate real voices, ensuring that viewers could feel the passion, urgency, and care behind each testimony. Our team handled all aspects of the creative process, from filming and editing to sound and visuals, with the goal of making each voice resonate clearly and authentically.

A Call to Reimagine What Is Possible

This video is more than just a collection of stories. It is a call to action. It invites all of us to envision a future where every student in New Mexico has access to a just, equitable, and empowering education. We believe that by listening to those who experience the system firsthand, we can create policies and practices that uplift entire communities.

Lasting Impact

Our collaboration with TENM was grounded in the belief that storytelling can drive systemic change. By amplifying these voices, we aim to build awareness, foster empathy, and support advocacy efforts that push for a better and more inclusive educational future. We believe that art and storytelling have the power to unite people, bridge divisions, and create lasting change. This project is our contribution to that collective vision.
