Artivism Augmented Reality Showcase in 516 ARTS Contemporary Museum

We celebrate community by being together

Dignity Not Detention Coalition

As an art collective ourselves, we are always drawn to the power of storytelling, and the ways in which art can connect us to different experiences and perspectives. The wonderful and passionate people from NMILC, NM DreamTeam, Innovation Law Lab, and other organizations involved, focus on sharing the stories of immigrant youth, who often face unique challenges and barriers as they navigate their new homes and communities. We want to thank everyone involved in this project as it continues to unfold. Our project was featured in Albuquerques’ own 516 ARTS Contemporary Gallery Museum, thanks to the help of NMILC. The event NMILC celebrated was for award ceremony were we honored and highlighted local outstanding members of our community.

Experiencing Art with Augmented Reality

Our Artivism Augmented Reality Experience has revolutionized community activism, proving instrumental in helping pass a critical bill in immigration rights in the state of NM by gathering community support. By overlaying the digital story onto the physical world, our AR experience transforms ordinary spaces into powerful storytelling platforms. For instance, our canvas prints that depict a static image of community leaders now come to life, further narrating their struggles and triumphs, rallying public support in a dynamic, engaging manner. This technology deepens the emotional connection and understanding among viewers, turning passive observers into active participants in the movement, ultimately contributing to the success of their cause.

Our customizable Artivism Augmented Reality (AR) Experience offers an unparalleled tool for community-oriented businesses to share their message through art. By integrating Augmented Reality into strategy, businesses can create compelling, interactive installations that attract attention and deeply engage the audience. Imagine a sculpture in a public park that transforms to show the future projects of a local business or a mural on a building that tells the history of the neighborhood through a smartphone lens. This technology not only enhances the visual appeal of a space but also fosters a sense of connection and belonging among viewers. It's an invaluable asset for businesses aiming to make a lasting impression, inspire community involvement, and ultimately drive their success.

Art + Activism = “Artivism“

Art has a unique ability to transcend language barriers and connect with audiences on an emotional level, making it an invaluable tool for conveying the gravity of topics like the inhumane living conditions within ICE detention centers. By weaving together visuals, sound, and narrative, we are able to create a compelling story that resonates deeply with viewers, fostering understanding and empathy where words alone may fall short. Through our documentary, we leverage the power of storytelling to not only shed light on the injustices faced by refugees but also to inspire action and ignite meaningful change.

Call to Action

Our work is more than just another piece of artwork—it's a call to action. As members of our community, we have a responsibility to speak out against systemic oppression and advocate for change. Already, our film has sparked conversations and galvanized individuals and organizations to take a stand against these atrocities.

We urge you to join us in this fight for justice. Whether it's signing petitions, volunteering your time, or simply raising awareness, every action counts. Together, we can work towards a future where no one is subjected to such deplorable conditions in the name of immigration enforcement.

As we continue to shine a light on the darkest corners of society, we remain committed to our mission of amplifying the voices of those who have been silenced for too long. Join us as we strive to create a more just and compassionate world for all.

Lasting Impact

Through this project, we hoped to create a deeper understanding and appreciation for the immigrant experience, and to inspire others to see the beauty and potential in all people, regardless of their background or origin. We believe that art has the power to bring people together, to bridge divisions, and to create a sense of community and belonging - and this project was our way of contributing to that vision.
